I've an '81 coupe with a bit of rust along one corner of the windshield. I'd like to pull the windshield, grind and weld away the rust, and then paint the top and sunroof. I can do the bodywork and painting, and I have a good window guy to pull the stainless trim, front and back, and pull the windshield. In fact, these have been out once when the car was new because it came with a chemistry problem in the paint when it was delivered from Italy and the top was repainted through the dealership before I took delivery. However, if the windshield is somehow broken, or the trim buggered somehow, are they replaceable? Any NOS windshlelds/windscreens still anywhere?

Gratefully, Johnny

A good auto glass guy won't break it, but, I have a spare used windshield in the frame, (no spare rear glass though), and I am sure there are many others out there. So far as an NOS replacement, I bet you could find one of those too. I found one for a Scorpion thru our local big auto glass place, it took them a few weeks, but they found one for me when no one else could! :) and I live outside a small farm/manufacturing town of only 35K population!

Thanks, Jim. I have replaced a couple Scorpion windshields myself. There were a number of German replacements available, a bit smaller than the originals. I think I'd buy a Beta windshield if I could find one.

It probably doesn't help as it's too far away but I've not long replaced my windscreen, it was newly manufactured in Australia, so they're still being made. I'll have a look and see if there are any details on it and let you know.

Shipping from Australia to the US normally isn't bad, I have purchased a lot of things from our friends down under, including heavy items, but nothing the size of the windshield.

The best I could get was the P/N and the distributors ph number in Australia. It’s the suppliers number for the autoglass store I used here, so they should know where they get them from and how easy it is to post them around the place. It’s a P/N 262861, Lancia Beta Coupe windscreen with bronze tint, and their ph number is +61 2 9795 3459, ask for Coleen Hodder. The P/N is, I would imagine, the companies own. Hope this helps.

Once upon a time you could get Scorpion windshields (and I assume Beta Coupe also) from Libbey Owens Ford (LOF Glass, LOFglasssearch.com)

However the website has disappeared, are they out of business? They were in Dayton, right in Jim's backyard, so to speak.

Well, I sniffed around a few min and found this when I googled Libbey Owens Ford Dayton Ohio:
