Any tips for removing this on a 78 2.0 Spyder other than a drill and chisel ?
I've had one try at it but didn't want to break my knuckle bar.

I used an electric wheel bolt impact wrench to slacken mine. If it is a nut then it is a normal thread. If it is a bolt it is a left hand thread.
There is a "story" that the mechanics used to fit a socket with long breaker bar resting on the ground then start the engine !!

I don't know if the 1.3Kw starter will do it, but you can loosen the nut by putting a breaker bar on the ground and rocking against it. You could probably do the same by jacking up the end of a breaker bar with a floor jack or something, but a good impact wrench is the easy answer. An I/R Thunder Gun at 160PSI will remove ANY Fiat/Lancia TC crank nut.

Haven't needed to try the starter trick with the VX but it is standard procedure on the Lotus Esprit. It is the only way to get the Lotus crank nut undone and works a treat.
