I just discovered that the lower ball joint threaded section I just installed is long enough to hit (and remove) the CV boot clamp.. The clamp has a low profile locking section. The ball joint brand is FRAP and there is a 3mm long reduced diameter extention beyond the threaded sectin that should be gound or cut off...I got them from a domestic vendor I will notify of the situation. Alternatively one could safety wire the boot on..

Same problem here. Did you find a solution? I have the
original outboard C.V. joint bands & there's still not
enough clearance. I've sprung the hubs several dif-
ferent ways ["A'"arm, then the rotor] w/a floor jack.
Cleareance still looks insufficient. Guess it's Sawz-
all time w/a 32 tooth blade thru the ny-lock nut to
reduce it's height. Ideas, how did you do it ?

David,
You can buy 1/2 height nylock nuts at most major fastener supply houses, and some of the larger Ace and Tru-Value stores

I used an air powered hacksaw to remove the section above the threads which was enougn for clearance on mine.. I think this may? be a situation where Fiat and Lancia use the same ball joint but the Lancia was shorter. Over time they somehow became thought of as interchangible. Just a supposition though.
