I have a nasty oil leak around the front corner of the engine below the exhaust. It is either the pan gasket or perhaps the drive shaft center section. I know there are 2( bolts or studs? ) holding it on that go into the oil gallery and was wondering if anyone had expierenced a leak there? If so how was it corrected? I have time on the rack tomorrow morning so I will know for sure where it is coming from.

Jim,
The solution to a pan gasket leak is either Hylomar or Moto-Seal on both sides of the gasket, and tighten the pan bolts to no more than 35 in.-lbs.
The center bearing housing is held on with two studs and one bolt. The studs and bolt should be installed with blue locktite, into clean dry holes. Blue locktite will seal the studs against oil, yet still be removable.

I found the source of the oil leak or rather a friend at the local independent repair center did. It seems that when I had the head at the machine shop they removed the plug in the oil gallery on the exhaust side and did not tighten or seal it.. Since most of my work is with Fiats that do not have that threaded plug I did not check it . My bad for assumiong anything comes back fom anywhere ready to install.
