Anyone happen to know if an 1800 HPE rear Koni strut (oem orange, w/o spring!) will fit the '81 coupe?
thanks, Johnny

Sorry, I don't believe the HPE rears will fit a Coupe. The Zagato/Spider and Coupe are the same but HPE has slightly different rear suspension, I suspect to handle soccer mom station wagon duties. ;) I think HPE, Coupe and Zagato/Spider are the same fronts though :-\

Thanks, Jim. I assume you are talking about the dimensions of the thing, not its suspension characteristics. I am cleaning a loft of old HPE parts. I'll have to look for a buyer.

What sort of parts? I'd be interested in the Konis at least.

After an inventory of my shop loft, here's what I find I have from my '77 HPE: a NOS Koni for the rear, 5 Lancia rebuild seal kits in their original boxes for the stock struts, the original US spec cams, carb and distributor. If anyone has any interest in these, let me know and I can identify them further.

Regarding your Koni hpe strut to coupe. This WILL fit provided you are using the standard rear springs. The only difference between the Beta Coupe and the Beta HPE rear struts is in the height of the strut above the spring pan. This is longer on the HPE because of the increased travel of the suspension. You will also find that the rear top suspension mount on the HPE is longer than that on the Coupe. This is in case the spring breaks, then the rubber bump stop rests on the sprig pan.
So to summerise, use the standard springs with the Hpe top mount, absolutely no problems.

The HPE top mount...hmmm. I'm trying to visualize a disk like affair that bolts into the top of the strut tower and into which the shock shaft bolts, right? I no longer have the HPE so the mount I've got is the one in the coupe. Using that means the ride height is ok (?) but I don't have the right suspension travel with the shock itself? Sounds like it wont work in my case.
