Does anyone know the time it took a standard Fulvia 1.6 to do the quarter mile when it was new. Just got back from Santa Pod and was dissapointed with the times recorded. We were the oldest car [and driver] though !

I read that the 0 to 62mph time was 9.5 seconds in a "Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car" article about a 1.6HF. No 1/4 ET given. My 1.3 is pretty doggy off the line, I'v never been optimistic enough to time it.

Road and Track tested a 1300 Sport and Rallye in 1967
1/4 mile for Coupe was 18.6 seconds
1/4 mile for the Zagato was 19.1, both at 75mph
The two cars had different gearing and final drive ratios hence the difference. The Zagato was lighter, but its gearing gave a higher top speed and the difference shows at between 80 - 100mph. The 0-80mph of the Coupe was 21.1 seconds, the Sport 21.3, but the 0-100 time was 40.5 seconds, but the Zagato was 7 seconds quicker at 33.0
A 1st series 1600 Fanalone was tested by Autocar and they got 17.6 seconds for the 1/4 mile @ 78mph
However, Fulvias are not about drag starts along a straight bit of tarmac - show them a couple of challenging corners instead!

Well I did not go too bad then, as my best time was 17.6 and 76.92 m.p.h. for the quarter mile. Most runs were 17.7 to 18.1 did 9 runs then gave up as I did not think I could make it any quicker. Was a fun day though !
