Greetings,

Where abouts are all the screws that hold the rear 1/4 panel "waist trim" on to the car's body? Is it correct that these screws do not need to be completely removed but just loosened and the trim slides put forward towards the door? Thanks in advance.

Hi Timo,

The fasteners are located behind the waist trim and accessible from the engine bay - 6 or 8 mm nuts. 4 down each side iirc. There is also a screw fix at the end of each trim piece, which you can see when you open the door.

You are correct that you do not need to undo the nuts all the way, just enough to be able to lift the trim up and off - just be careful! Fitting is obviously the reverse!

Hope this helps!

Hi Darren,

Thank you so for the tip on this. It really helps as it is always nice to know what to look for before a job is started.

I just have a couple of more questions: 1)Are the 4 screws down the entire length of the inside panel? 2) It looks as if on the passenger side trim (USA passenger side) it is more difficult to access these screws, do you recommend removing any items from inside the engine bay to gain better access to the trim screws? Thanks again!

Hi again Timo

Took some pics for you but not sure how to ad them to my post - bit stoopid methinks! ;o)) Anyway - there are 3 brackets down each side - left hand side of the car is easy = one near rea light cluster in corner - next towards the strut tower and the last one close to the fuel filler elbow. Obviously the right hand side brackets are opposite!! I would recommend moving moving the expansion tank to get to the rear two brackets - hope this helps you.

Just a thought - check in my member album for pics - Darren Cooksey - The Longest Restoration Project in the World! ;o))

Cheers

Hi Darren,

This is a huge help. Thanks again!

P.S. Very nice resto job, your car is wonderful, always like the Scorpion in rosso! A nice Hasagawa 037, Is that kit still available?

Hi Timo,

Thanks for the compliments on the restoration - It is my favourite colour for the car too - would love a stradale to match!!;o)))

Cheers on the kit too - will be great when it's finished - really must get round to it - yep, kit is still aailable from various sources - they also do a few versions of the Stratos too if you're interested. Try ebay, or let me know and I'll point you in the right direction.

Cheers
