This Scorpion is running in SCCA's (Sport Car Club of America) F Production race class.
-------
Well, we haven't been to Watkins Glen in 4 or 5 years and that was in a
different car. So I was a little rusty in Qualifying. Soon into the second
qualifying session the dipstick popped out of the transmission and quickly
lost a quart of fluid. The white cloud of smoke caused me to duck into the
pits and I did not go back out.
As a result it was qualified 4th in class and 12th overall. With so little
seat time I knew it could do a lot better and would just go faster every lap in
the race.
Well, the start of the race went well enough. And sure enough just kept going
quicker and quicker. By the end of the race we were within 3 seconds of the
leader, was gaining ground and had turned the fastest lap by 1/2 a second.
Finished 2nd in class with no dents, no dings, no errors.
Here is a video of the start. It's a 13MB windows media file. Enjoy
