Montecarlo-Scorpion Coolant Recovery Bottle Cap

Greetings,

While on the subject of caps...see the post for oil filler caps... I'm looking for the OEM coolant recovery bottle, aka "radiator cap". Does the standard FIAT X1/9 or a Beta Coupe cap work on the Montecarlo/Scorpion? Same pressure rating? Anyone have a correct part #? I see some caps available on E-bay and want to make sure they are the real deal before buying. Thanks in advance.

Timo,
The OEM Fiat / Lancia cap is "square" on top, and is usually cadmium plated (gold colour).
As long as the cap is the same length as the old one it should be OK. I believe there are only two sizes of these, long and short. Can't remember which one is on an X1/9 but my Montecarlo has the long cap on the OEM reservoir bottle.
As long as you have to push down on the cap to twist and lock it, you will have the right one!

Hi Geoff,

Thank you for the great tip...I purchased a brand new OEM (square and it has to be pushed down) cap from a vendor on E-bay located Down Under and so far so good. I will have to do a longer test drive this weekend and see if it holds OK. It is now hot weather for these parts here in Northern California so it is good time to test this out.
