View Full Version : Silly carpet question

I have an early coupe and I need to pull up the carpet on one side in order to hide a control wire for a power radio antenna. What holds the carpet to the stainless steel strip? I don't want to force something and either bend the trim or rip my (original!) carpet. I'm more used to cars like the 124s where you just take off the sill plate.

OK, there are small steel clips all along the steel strips that are clipped in, about 6-8 of them. You can use a small flat blade screw driver and gently prise them open. It is easier if you have the seat out. I would recommend starting from one end to the next. When you slide the screw driver in, you should be able to sense where the clip is.

Shane-
Thanks for the answer! I knew somebody had been down this road before.
Just to make sure I understand you right, the clips are inside the U shaped stainless trim piece?
