Bridget is home after a two month visit to the body shop. Overall a fairly nice job though I have to take her back in a few weeks to have some repainting done! >:( My body shop guy (Guber) didn't put a few things back on correctly, one being the door mouldings/seals. They were pretty much worn out anyway, so I purchased some new ones from Bayless. Does anyone have suggestions on where to put the seams? The old seams were in the bottom middle of the doors and that doesn't look right to me...they really got alot of wear there too. Ideas ???

On my Zag, I have noticed that the door seals (new-ish when I got the car) tend to get torn up a bit at the kink where the top-rear of the door edge meets the lower-rear of the window frame -- I think the tail end of the aluminum trim strip atop the interior door panel snags across the seal. At any rate, that seems like a suitable place for the seal seam, since it'll prolly get chewed-up there anyway; you could even angle-cut the ends to leave a shaped gap for the trim strip to pass by without damaging the seal, perhaps also glue shut each open end of the seal there, so water can't as easily seep inside the hollow seal at that point (dunno how well that'd hold shut, tho'... ??? :-\ ).

BTW, did you keep the two-tone treatment for your Zag? I do rather dig that look...8)

Just installed new door seals on my LBZ .The originals had a seam mid-point between the bottom of the window and the door latch. Both sides were the same.

OK...I installed the door seals today with a few choice words said. >:( Now, I have to really slam my doors to make them close all of the way. I even started over again to try and make a better fit but got the same results. Was wondering if I got the seals mixed up since they were made specifically for each door? At least they each have a different part#. I couldn't tell the difference when I looked at them...they appear to be the same. Also, I ended up putting the seams at the bottom towards the back of the kick plate....thought they would drain better there.

I bought some Dynamat Extreme to go under the hood. That should be another project to enjoy! ::)
