View Full Version : Warm start troubles...

I now have this bizzaro thing going on.... After my engine is warmed up and I shut it off for a few minutes, then try to start it again, it doesn't start. If I hold the accellerator down and crank it for a while it will evenutally start, but its a struggle.

Any ideas?

Timing seems fine...

Hmm I am thinking this is bad gas..... The car also has a weird thing going on with the idle... Sometimes its fast, sometimes is slow...

Well to end this thread, the problem was solved by plugging a hose fitting on my carb. Now I just have to figure out where that fitting goes...

Hi there,

I was going to suggest vapour lock - sounds exactly like what I used to suffer with on my old Beta - but sounds like you fixed it. If you post a picture, one of those 'In The Know' should be able to point you in the right direction??

Hi again, and thatnks for the link to the other thread. Looks like it's been more than covered and linked to your smog equipment. I have absolutely no knowledge whatsoever of those systems as I'm UK based an montecarlo owned! ;o)

Personally, I'd remove the lot if you can get away with it, carefully box and keep it for when or rather if you decide to sell again in the future. You can then have the benefit of a properly breathing engine!

I don't know if you've figured this out yet, but there are also more vacuum leak sites on the bottom of the intake manifold. If you are desmogging the car, my advice id to rip all the extranneous nipples right out, move any vac lines you want to keep to the top and then tap the aluminum mani out for regular NPT plumbing plugs, loctited in. An old head temp sensor can be used to plug the hole left by the odd fitting that secures the EGR banjo bolt.
