Hi!

I hade a strange fault with my HPE. I had drived my car, when the steering become heavy, and the car did not accelerate. The engine runs well (in idle). I tread strongly the brake pedals a few times, and the error disappeares. I was in a very-very big traffic jam, and the weather was
hot.
What was it? "Fried" the brake cylinders? Or the brake pads to the disk? Experienced somebody else similar affair? The disk and the pads are news, these run only 12000 km
Thanks,
Zsolt

Often this type of problem is caused by deteriorated flex hoses to the calipers, particularly if the problem is only intermittant. Small pieces of the deteriorating rubber or the swollen inner hose clog the lines and prevent the caliper from releasing all the way. Of course a corroded piston or bore in the caliper itself can also cause the brakes to overheat as well. If the caliper releases when the bleeder screws are loosened, I would suspect the hoses, otherwise the caliper itself.

I agree with radiol about the hoses. I had no end of trouble with mine and only discovered the hose was the problem after taking the caliper off and stripping it down to find it was perfect inside. Don't drive it too much in that condition because you'll end up doing damage to the bearings as well as the brakes.

Thanks the advice! I will look after the hoses.
This type of error occured in the last summer too (in same condition: traffic jam, hot weather).
After i renewed the brake system, but i did not change the hoses and the calipers (it seems good), since i drive lot of, but this fault occured only
yesterday again -almost 1 year later after the first case!
