Do the Betas have a steering damper? I had an alignment done, the car is much better but when I get on the highway the steering wheel shudders back and forth at around 70 mph. Not sure what else could be wrong

Thanks

NO steering damper and none required.

Things that can cause vibration.

Wheel imbalance. Check tyres and rims for damage. Get wheels balanced and also check the rims are running true with no dents or wobble.

Worn shock absorbers.

My 1975 US spec Beta Coupe DOES have a damper. It is mounted on the shaft end of the steering rack to the bracket where the tie rods are connected .It is a manual TRW rack,as I remember, but a new Beta damper is impossible to find for sale anywhere!! I tried everywhere. My solution was to find a damper that was close.I matched up a damper from a 1977 Bmw 320i,which was the same size, length and throw.Only one problem, the Beta damper has an eye at the rack end and a rod at the bracket end,the beemer damper has rods on both ends.I cut off the eye from the old Beta part popped out the rubber bushing, and welded the eye onto the rod of the new BMW damper.WORKS GREAT!
