View Full Version : cracked manifold
I have to replace the manifold now, so obviously I will wait to put the new 02 sensor in. Does anyone have a good source? I checked with IAP yesterday and they don't have any. Today the replacement A/C condensor goes in. I will be very happy to have working A/C this summer
Thanks

It's just a common single wire O2 sensor, you can get them at any auto parts store, Autozone sells the Bosch ones.

You can actually have the manifold welded, JP, although finding someone to do it might be challenging. Welding cast iron is an art form. I have a guy here in Denver that can do it. He now does all my metal work.
See attached picture of my original Scorpion manifold that he welded for me. You won't find many people who can weld cast iron this well.
I'd be happy to get it over to him if you can get it here BEFORE June 1, which is our new departure date for Scotland.

Can you not just get some extractors made with a socket for the O2 sensor?

Thanks DJ, I asked about welding it and supposedly it cannot be done because of the location and extent, I am hoping to snag a used decent one if I can, but your offer is much appreciated!
great picture btw

Hello Jp. I recently had the two sections of my manifold welded together because I could not find a gasket for it. I do have another manifold (two pieces) that would need to be welded together and I think the O2 sensor might still be in good shape. Let me know if you are interested and we can work something out. I welded up a friends manifold (Mitzibushi). The cast iron rods these days are real easy to use. Don't grind out the cracks, just weld at sufficient speed to get the necessary penetration.
The welding process will cause some distortion. I dealt with this by getting the surface that mates the head machined flat.
