I'm thinking of dropping in a Kenwood KSC-SW1 powered subwoofer, which should fit behind the driver seat with an inch to spare (or so). I will need to power it from a hot wire. I'll probably glue some velcro to the vinyl behind the seat to anchor it. Any suggestions? The power supply is fused for 10 amps. I was pondering using the cig lighter but is there a better choice in that vicinity? I'll be needing to remove the glove box to get back there to hook up the signal wire anyway. Also possible to go direct to the battery, I suppose.
I'm using a Blaupunkt Nevada (17 w rms power per channel) for CD/radio source. I am also replacing the 4" audiovox speakers that came with the car. They ride on the front of the doors, projecting into the space occupied by the window motors. Would appreciate any suggestions.

Ahoy Capn ;),
I built a birch plywood sub enclosure for a 10" Infinity Kappa woofer, sits in the front luggage compartment where the styrofoam piece goes. Does eat up some storage space but not too bad. Sound quality & also SPL is great. Amp sits on top, wired directly to the battery. Just another option to consider.

For your behind the seat location, there is the rear window defogger circuit nearby that should have sufficient current capacity.

Good option- I had thought that the sound would not get through to the cabin but I think I'll try it your way; probably with the same powered sub that I had planned to get. Thanks, J

Just to close the loop; the sub went in fine and it's nice. I ended up putting it behind the driver seat where it just fits (I'm 5'6" so your mileage may vary). I had also considered the boot but decided not to cut holes for the sound to get to the passenger compartment. Ken, did you cut any holes or does it come through without? I ran the wires under the tranny tunnel and into the boot (direct to battery) via the existing hole for heater lines. The whole thing could be reversed easily if I change my mind later- the only "permanent" part of the installation is two pieces of velcro that hold the sub off the floor. I put a new pair of 4" polk speakers in the doors using some holes existing from a prior aftermarket install and I'm driving the whole thing with a blaupunkt nevada from my dead Saab. I could send some pictures if anyone was interested.

No holes needed, the low frequencies come through fine.
