HI ALL

A BIT OF ADVICE PLEASE I AM LOOKING TO BUY A MONTECARLO WITH THE INTENSION OF TURBO CHARGING, COULD I HAVE A LIST OF ALL PARTS NEEDED TO DO THE CONVERSION AND A BRIEF DISCRIPTION OF WHAT IS INVOLVED. WHAT TURBO WOULD YOU RECOMEND ETC.
IF I DIDN'T GO WITH TURBO WHAT SORT OF POWER COULD I EXPECT TO ACHIEVE BY NEW CAMS ETC AND FUEL INJECTION WITH ECU.

I HOPE THESE QUESTIONS MAKE SENCE I AM JUST RETUNING TO TINKERING WITH CARS AFTER 20 YEARS OF GRAFTING TO PAY THE MORGAGE AND BRINGING UP A FAMILY IT'S GOING TO TAKE ME A BIT OF TIME TO GET BACK INTO THE SWING OF THINGS

THANKS IN ADVANCE PAUL

I know of two cars for sale with turbo engines already fitted. These are Delta or Thema turbo engines that have been fitted along with their engine management systems. This would be cheaper than converting a car.

If its a early 8 valve Delta turbo engine at the least the exhaust manifold is on the correct side of the engine for installation in a Monte.

I don't think the early manifold will fit - or rather it will but as the gearbox is different, the turbo gets in the way of the driveshafts . . .

The first one I made up fits in the standard slot- just ! If you want it for a pattern it's free - but it's is only good enough for a pattern . . it's a bit knackered due to ocerwelding and the flanges not being htick enough (it's about as straight as a bannana !).

The vx engine has funny pumps and hot starting things - personally ? Junk it all and just get it running as a "normal" engine - all you need is a positive feed to the ignition pack and fuel pump and it should start.
